Inauguration Ceremony

The 18th Inauguration Ceremony marked the ascension of the new cabinet Veritas. The theme for this year was Prudentia, Latin for foresight and sagacity. The ceremony signifies the beginning of a new chapter for AMS, and bears witness to the beginning of a new mooting season.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Professor Shahla Ali, Mr. Philip Dykes S.C., Mr. Wesley Wong S.C., J.P., distinguished guests, and representatives from various student societies for attending the Ceremony. We would also like to thank the Organising Committee members of the Ceremony and the past Executive Committee members for their support, without which the night would not have been possible. 

SA-AMS One Night Stay@HKU

The One Night Stay@HKU (Law Session) was successfully held on 24 June 2020. It is an overnight camp specifically designed for 2020 HKDSE students who are interested in studying law and exploring mooting. Yet due to the seriousness of the pandemic, it was held via zoom this year. The event comprised a mooting trial submission and a case-law drama competition. Potential law students were acquainted with rudimentary advocacy concepts. It was delightful to see students applying legal reasoning to support their side of submission during the mooting trial. 
We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to HKU Admissions and Academic Liaison Section and HKU Student Ambassadors for providing our Society with the opportunity to introduce advocacy and mooting skills to potential freshmen.
We would also like to thank the Organising Committee members and all helpers, without whom the event would not have been as successful.

Orientation Series 2020

Registration Day

19 August 2020

The Registration Day is the first event of the year for incoming students. To raise awareness of the society among freshmen, AMS will organise a booth for them to interact with members of the Executive Committee. In view of the development of COVID-19, the Registration Day was held online via zoom this year. The Registration Day serves as a recruiting event, during which AMS will promote its welfare and upcoming activities to encourage freshmen to register as new members.

Book Sale

28 - 31 August 2020

The Book Sale is the main welfare activity of AMS, which provides an opportunity for members to purchase discounted legal reference books including textbooks, casebooks and revision guides. The discounted books at the Book Sale will only be available for purchase for AMS members. This year, the Book Sale was held online via Google Form for members to place thier orders. Non-members can register as members via the Google Form so that they can enjoy the discounted price for the reference books. 

Orientation Day

The Orientation Day is when our Society welcomes new students of the Law Faculty. It is comprised of numerous mooting-related games and a mooting trial. The event serves as a platform for freshmen to know more about our Society by providing them with a hands-on experience of mooting as well as equipping them with fundamental law concepts and mooting skills in both a fun and interactive manner. Despite the fact that it was held online this year, we hope to establish strong bonding between the Society and its new members.
​We would like to thank all the freshmen who have participated in AMS activities over the last two months and made our O-series such a great success. It was our pleasure to welcome so many new faces into our Society and hope you are all just as excited as we are to participate in the mooting competitions to come!
